Meet the person behind Luxura

Dakota can plan your event wherever your imagination takes you.

Hi, I’m Dakota.

I’m the founder and lead planner behind Luxura Event Co., based in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia, on Vancouver Island , but happily working wherever the celebration takes me.

I’ve spent more than a decade in the event world, including seven years with one of Canada’s leading event companies. Along the way, I’ve planned more than 150 celebrations, built relationships with some pretty incredible people in this industry, and had the privilege of seeing my work recognized with awards and publications, including Best Wedding Planner at the VIWA Awards in 2022.

But the résumé is only part of the story.

I really, really love weddings.

I love the romance of them. The anticipation. The ridiculous little details that somehow become the things everyone remembers. I love a room that makes you stop in your tracks, a dinner that goes on a little too long, a dance floor that nobody wants to leave, and the moment when a couple looks around and realizes, holy crap, this is ours.

I’m also a big believer that the best events shouldn’t feel like they came from Pinterest.

They should feel like you.

My approach is thoughtful, highly personal and detail obsessed, but never stuffy. I bring a lot of experience, a strong network of talented people, an emergency kit that would impress a paramedic, and a healthy sense of humour to every event I take on. I care about great design, great food, great wine, great music and, perhaps most importantly, great people.

Outside of weddings, you’ll usually find me travelling, discovering a great restaurant, drinking a glass of wine somewhere beautiful, planning my next adventure, or spending time with my favourite person, Cody. Our life together has taught me something I carry into my work, too: make time for the people you love. Life moves quickly. The dinners, the trips, the long lunches, the celebrations, the bottles of wine opened for no particular reason, those are the things that matter, and I think your wedding should feel like an extension of that philosophy.

A celebration that isn’t just beautiful for the sake of being beautiful, but one that feels alive, personal and entirely yours.

I’m here for the big, bold, wildly romantic celebrations, and the intimate ones with just as much heart. Whether we’re planning a destination wedding halfway around the world or an unforgettable weekend right here on Vancouver Island, my goal is always the same:

To make the process feel as great as the party itself.

Because you should get to be present for your own wedding.

You should laugh a lot.

You should drink the champagne.

You should dance with your favourite people.

And you should look around the room and think,

“This is so us.”

That’s the magic I’m after.

Let’s make something unforgettable.
